Comparative quantizations of (2+1)-dimensional gravity.

چکیده
We compare three approaches to the quantization of (2+1)dimensional gravity with a negative cosmological constant: reduced phase space quantization with the York time slicing, quantization of the algebra of holonomies, and quantization of the space of classical solutions. The relationships among these quantum theories allow us to define and interpret time-dependent operators in the “frozen time” holonomy formulation. email: [email protected] email: [email protected]

Erratum: (2+1)-dimensional Chern-Simons gravity as a Dirac square root
For simple enough spatial topologies, at least four approaches to (2 + 1)-dimensional quantum gravity have been proposed: Wheeler-DeWitt quantization, canonical quantization in Arnowitt-Deser-Misner (ADM) variables on reduced phase space, Chern-Simons quantization, and quantization in terms of Ashtekar-Rovelli-Smolin loop variables. An important problem is to understand the relationships among ...
متن کاملSpherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...
متن کاملInequivalent Quantizations of Yang-mills Theory on a Cylinder
Yang-Mills theories on a 1+1 dimensional cylinder are considered. It is shown that canonical quantization can proceed following different routes, leading to inequivalent quantizations. The problem of the non-free action of the gauge group on the configuration space is also discussed. In particular we re-examine the relationship between “θ-states” and the fundamental group of the configuration s...
متن کاملAn invitation to Loop Quantum Gravity
We describe the basic assumptions and key results of loop quantum gravity, which is a background independent approach to quantum gravity. The emphasis is on the basic physical principles and how one deduces predictions from them, at a level suitable for physicists in other areas such as string theory, cosmology, particle physics, astrophysics and condensed matter physics. No details are given, ...
متن کاملDilaton Gravity, Poisson Sigma Models and Loop Quantum Gravity
Spherically symmetric gravity in Ashtekar variables coupled to Yang–Mills theory in two dimensions and its relation to dilaton gravity and Poisson sigma models are discussed. After introducing its loop quantization, quantum corrections for inverse triad components are shown to provide a consistent deformation without anomalies. The relation to Poisson sigma models provides a covariant action pr...
